(Mathematics is dreadful just because of some factors that make it that way. So because of that, we are like this. Though there are times we tried and fight it, still not winning.)
Before anything else I will laugh a very nervous laugh. And then I’ll sly a little. I don’t know about their half, but I will gladly tell you mine.
First of all, people will always be afraid to risk something they thought are sure to fail no matter who, what, where, when or how. Whether it’s about politics, candidacy, food to eat, dress to wear, who to go with to what kind of event, what to learn, what to take, what to like, what to hate, what kind of solidarity and so many more I can think of. Remember that, most of thestudents in a Mathematics class feel that way whenever there will be a recitation.
So when we put it in our point of view being the student, here’s the scenario: A board full of numbers with equations and different formulas. Then the teacher would rattle on and on about something that most of us, can’t easily understand, words that may be common to her but not to us and explanations thatmight be a piece of cake for her and a bitter melon for us. (Hahahaha Ampalaya would taste sweeter than Math. And that is a compliment.)
I also believe that the attitude of a teacher greatly contribute to our dreaded situations regarding Math subjects. Name it and we’ll just oblige because it is required. Some might have fun doing it but not all of us. Making it look simpler, yet expecting us to know a lot deeper isn’t such a good idea. I mean, we should know, we should learn to conquer it with the teachers help.
Please don’t expect us to be as great as you guys. We haven’t lived that long enough for us to justify your anticipations. We will, with your help.
Let me ask you something. Have anyone thought of some new things to make the discussion in a Math class a more fun, enjoyable and knowledgeable learning? Nope. No one has. If ever there is, it’s not working. We’re just kids. We need fun to learn. A strict teacher is great, to build our discipline but they should also know their limitations just like how they taught us to know ours. Trauma is very common these days. Teachers should be inspiring. And for the record, I salute all the teachers out there that even though they spent longer years into the service they still have the passion to really teach.
Oh, I almost forgot. I also wanted to include some students that usually benefits from being good at Math. They should be encouraged to help students that were struggling everyday just to pass this subject. It might be a burden for them, but it willdefinitely help to increase the number of students that will love Math… so please don’t make it sounds like a charity case. (This statement is confidential) J
